Flyball is the fastest high drive sport for dogs, ideal for high energy dogs that need to burn off the excess. A dog needs to be 12 months old minimum to compete. However, young dogs can attend puppy Flyball training classes.
Training Classes are held on Saturdays at 2.30 at our Training Venue – Doddington Crossing, Nr Wollaston, NN29 7TS.
The Flyball is a knockout competition which is a 4 member relay race where dogs run a line of jumps with a box and pad at the end of the course, this box holds a ball, the dog hits the pad with its paw to release the ball, the dog catches the ball and then returns back down the course, once back the next dog is waiting at the start line to go, this goes on until all the 4 dogs have ran, this is all timed and the fastest team wins that round, once through the rounds the final is between the fastest 2 teams left in the competition.
Our Head Trainer is Doug he has been involved with Flyball for over 20 years so his experience is immense, he has competed at Crufts level over a dozen times, and competed in various other Flyball competitions all over the country, his enthusiasm for us to do well is filtering its way through to all the members of Flyball and everyone both dogs and handlers really enjoy the sport. When we asked him to describe himself his words were “I am an all-round nice guy”
Doug is very approachable and a mind full of information on Flyball. His Grandchildren help him out with the Training also they run dogs in the teams too.
We run a Kids team which have qualified for Crufts for the last 3 years, but you don`t have to be competitive you can do it just for something to do with your dog which you will enjoy together.
